A lesson from nature...

I spent the whole of yesterday out with Ucop, an old friend of mine from SAS. He was my dorm mate, we lived in the same dorm together for five long years. Well alright, four years to be more precise as he became a prefect when we were form 5. He came to UK all the way from Australia to attend the Westlife Farewell concert in the O2 Stadium last week. Quite an effort huh, to literally travel half-way across the globe just to attend a concert. But then again, given that it is a Westlife concert, it was totally worth it. Besides, after this they are breaking up, so what the heck, let us celebrate their greatness one last time, there is no wrong in that I suppose.

While we were walking our way through Hyde park yesterday, enjoying the good sunny day, we came across something really amazing. Other than seeing plenty of skin lying around on their backs on the patches of greenery, we saw something even more beautiful. As we were walking around the Round Pond, we witnessed a duck nesting on the water. And that was not the whole it. As we were busy looking at it, we saw another duck coming around carrying twigs to help strengthen the nest. I got a video of it below.

Isn't it sweet? To watch the two of them together, we can't help but ponder on how amazing these ducks were. Such a manifestation of love and care, not to mention the effort. Some of the people tried to hand the ducks with twigs in order to make their work that much easier, but to our surprise, they never took it off our hands. Instead, when we threw the twigs into the water, then only they will be coming to fetch it. It is almost as if they do not wish for us to make the task too easy for them. I heard whispers in my ear telling me, 'Perhaps this is better for them. Life is never easy, and they know this to be true. Hence bear witness of such show of courage and may you humans learn from the wonders of nature.'

Interesting, is it not? These birds wish not for us to show us pity, neither does a man who is down flat on the ground. It will only make us feel more pathetic than we already were. Help us up, but not through your pity charity. Show us that there is something worthy for us to get up for, something worth living for, worth the struggle to stand back up.

There is plenty to be learnt from nature. If only we humans are to open our eyes a little wider...
I leave the rest to you......
