MACFIS Microfinance Talk

Later yesterday I went for a talk organised by MACFIS, it's about microfinance. I think that the talk was part of their whole trip to Grameen Bank in Bangladesh this September which at the moment, I have no intention of joining, but nevertheless, having formally studied development economics this year, I decided to go for the talk, just to see what new things about the field I might be able to pick up. Honestly though, there was supposed to be another talk given by my macro lecturer in UCL at 5pm about the relevance of maro researches with the real-world scenario, hence it quite a dilemma for me to choose which talk to listen to. So, about the talk. Overall the talk was pretty brief but direct to the point. It all began with a presentation from MERCY Malaysia, an NGO which more or less functions like the Red Cross or something like that. The lady invited us, students to actively participate in their cause, helping people all around the world. In a way this was some sort of an eye

Yes, that is indeed the infamous Ustaz Don in the photo above; he was here in the UK for the program Nottingham Berselawat the other day. But this post is not about him, it's got something to do with the guy that you see in the right side of this photo. He is Adin, a friend of mine. We were dormmates back in SAS for four years before he became a prefect during form 5. He is a very good guy, very smart and so talented. He sings so well, and not to mention a very firm and Islamic guy. Even back during the days, he was participated so actively in nasyid and dikir barat, he was also one of the few respected imams in our batch since he is able to recite the Quran so well. Just by looking at this photo you can clearly see how good of a man he has become. Now lets take a step back and have a look at this guy instead. Just look how goofy he is. I wonder why can't I be less embarrassing, and be more like Adin instead. Where did I go wrong? Though I must really admit that

Whoever said that cycling in London is not without any dangers has got to be joking. First of all, just by looking at the sheer traffic load of the streets, one must be crazy enough to think that it is 100% safe. In fact, statistics have shown that there have been some fatal accidents here in London itself, so yes it is by far not the safest way to travel. But one thing is for sure, the adrenaline rush that you get every morning as you ride across the busy traffic, the energized feeling you get once you got off your bike and step foot into your office or classes, not to mention the responsible feeling you have towards maintaining your own bike, as it is the equivalent to your own car here in London; this is more than a strong enough reason for one to start cycling in London.                 I ran into a car’s door last week. Luckily though, I was not injured, and to be honest it surely was my fault. But if I could change one thing, I wished that the driver was more
