Song of the week+ Moral from 1st paper

Image
I am back peeps! I just arrived from my first paper, Management Principles. Honestly, it was such a drama earlier today. Me and Hasan arrived at the venue which is near Liverpool Street 10 minutes before the exam started, and instead of heading to the ground floor, I went to the first floor instead. I didn't really know why, but as soon as I got up there I immediately sat in my assigned number seat. Then as the invigilators said we can start, I was so shocked to see that the question paper on my table was MSIN1001 instead of MSIN6001! As it turned out, the exam for my module was actually being held downstairs instead! So the moral of the story: Always check that you're sitting for the right module even though it is in the same hall, you never know!  I did feel a bit panicked at first, but as I sat down in my this time correct seat, I managed to calm myself down, thank Allah. Other than that piece of drama, everything else was alright I guess. The questions were doable, if I

Song of the week

My head is all messed up right now. To make it even worse, it's spreading now to my biological clock as well as my eating habits too. My spring break is over, didn't do anything much, I was stuck here in London the whole time. Any highlights to it? Surprisingly, none worth mentioning. I was pretty much chained to my desk most of the times. So yeah, back to the topic, last week's song of the week. This is their latest single, performed on The Voice just like they did last year with Move Like Jagger, only this time they did it with Wiz Khalifa. I was pretty much excited when I first noticed that this song featured Wiz in it, I was not expecting them to pull it off, but it turned out I was proven wrong. Why I like this song?: It has a nice ring to it, though you might say the message is pretty much straight forward. What makes it so fun is the lyric video. Have a look at it, it's so cool! It is a bit repetitive, was hoping they might be a bit more creative and add

So others may live

I recently attended a blood drive near my place. I have registered as a blood donor ever since Fresher's Fair in UCL last September but I never seemed to be able to meet the right time to actually donate. Finally being able to do so, I was very happy indeed. I have no specific reason of donating, but I just figure maybe some other people out there might find it useful to have a fellow AB blood type to go around in the case of emergency. Undoubtedly our world now is full of conflicts and war, hence there is an even greater need for us to donate blood for the needy. As I got back home from the donation, it suddenly occurred to me, why not take another step further and register myself as an organ donor? In the event of my death, at least someone else could continue on living with whatever organs left of me that are usable still. It the very minimal I could ever do to humanity, ensuring that another worthy soul is given a second chance at life when me myself no longer does. I fig

Song of the week...

Why I like this song? : To be honest, this song was stuck inside my head for the past week. I kept Googling the scene in season 4 when they were in Paris just so that I could admire the emotions. This song is simple, but it's rich with emotions. It is addictive to myself, but am not pretty sure you'd like it as much as I do. But frankly speaking, we've all been in such situations when all we hope for was for someone to hold out a helping hand and get us out of the many troubles we're in. The question is, where do you find your helping hand, and how long will it takes to come for you?

Coronation of new Agong

Image
Yesterday morning as I was staying up late waiting for Subuh at 4 am, I saw a post from Kak Farrah on my FB news feed about the Coronation Ceremony of Malaysia's 14th King streaming live on the internet. I quickly clicked the link and ended up watching the whole ceremony till the end. It was a traditional event which marked a significant part of Malaysian history. I am so sorry if I sound like some sort of a tradition freak, but I really can't help myself from feeling so proud as I laid eyes on the event. First of all, such an event only happens every five years, so only God knows if I will still be alive to watch the next King of Malaysia to carry the crown. Besides, if you are to know the ceremony well, from the moment the procession stepped inside the Balairong Seri up until the shooting of the cannons marking the end of the ceremony, you'll begin to appreciate and admire every single minute of it.  There you, another page written inside Malaysia's history. A

Islamic Finance, follow up

Image
Remember my last post on Islamic finance, yeah the one I wrote like the past couple of months or so. Today I ran across one of the latest global report on the topic. The figures seem to indicate that the prospect for growth is bright. Yes, admittedly it still owns a minor part of the whole financial market, but nevertheless given the presently grim atmosphere clouding over our world, Islamic finance could well use this opportunity to further expand its horizon increasing the interests of many more.

Why I like this song: I don't quite know. I fell in love with the song when I first listened to it when I was in form 5 in SAS. To say that I like an independent type of woman is also untrue, because honestly I am in no shape to say anything. The reason why I chose to post this song up this week was because a friend of mine reminded me of it. Enjoy~

Gossip Girl - 4x02 Double Identity - Chuck & Eva 'I'm Chuck Bass'

Image
Everybody has their own dark side, myself included. Some are more obvious than others, nevertheless, it is all a matter of how well we conceive them from the eyes of the people around us. I know I may be watching too much Gossip Girl, but what Chuck said in the clip video somehow speaks to me. Chuck was never a good guy, he is a selfish playboy, until he was shot. Eva found him and treated him well, though she didn't even know who he was. Touched by her act of kindness, he decided to bring her back with him to New York. Well, if you're as big of a fan of Gossip Girl as I am, you should probably know all of this already. If someone who as bad as Chuck Bass could have a second chance, so why shouldn't you? Yes, I said you, not 'us'. I already had a few chances to make things right, but I just kept getting them wrong anyway. So I am not surprised if God has given up hope on me. If He doesn't, I know I am. As of right now, I just want to survive as long as I can,

...

Last couple of weekend was the infamous UKEC's annual Careers Fair here in UCL. Many flocked to London as early as Friday morning from all around the UK. This is a golden opportunity for many to not only gain better insights on the careers which awaits them once they graduate, but also a great chance for those who are looking for an internship opportunity. Many of my friends also came down, Ain from Bristol, Hafizin (classmate from SAS) from Birmingham, Adam Wan from Manchester and many more. Unlike them, I was not as enthusiastic to look for an internship opportunity because I already have one for this coming summer. Nevertheless, it is fun to go walk around and chat with representatives from the participating companies that day. Frankly speaking, I don't really know where do I fit in with the Economics degree I am currently doing actually. Am I looking to be a manager one day, don't feel like it. Am I looking to be a consultant? Nah, guess I'll pass on that too. I

I am in need of a strong motivation right now. My head is so messed up, and so is my life. Sometimes, I really think that I could use a helping hand during days like this. Last weekend I went to the UKEC's Careers Fair in UCL and it got me thinking, where do I see myself in the future? Who would want to employ someone with such as strange as myself, what more with an Economics degree in hand. Oh well, that is just one of the many things running around inside of my head right now.
