No artist without an audience

Some of my friends are having their last CIE paper as I am typing this. They would surely be very happy, some even already had plans to celebrate, Ikram even tried to persuade me and the rest of us to go out with him tomorrow to watch Fast 5. Well, who could blame them. As soon as they set their foot out of the hall at about 3 pm, they will surely be partying their hearts out tonight. Everyone is waiting for that moment, the feeling of relief when a heavy load has been lifted of you. Then again, the wait for the upcoming result may be more anxiously painful rather than having to sit for the exams itself.

Well, lets put that academic topic aside for a moment.

Is it the fans or the artists themselves are what makes them famous?
That's one of the question posed by Bna today while Hana and me were having lunch with her. Btw, we had a quarter chicken today, just in case you're wondering.

I think artists, being part of the media world, they are highly dependent upon the responds that they get from the audiences. Yes, it is undeniably true that they are the ones who possess the talent to sing or act in the first place, but that is just one part of it. The remedy to becoming a successful artist to have the talent plus the attention. None can work without the other, alright maybe that's not completely true, but having just one of the two might not be sufficient if you're aiming for Hollywood.

The talent will be your starting point in showbiz, whereas showcasing it is going to be an essential stepping stone for you to climb your way up the ladder of stardom, if you will. Take John Legend for example, while he as in college a friend introduced him to Lauryn Hill, thus his path began to be carved out, and look where he is now. In Malaysian context, take a look at Mawi. He became famous for winning Akademi Fantasia a few years ago, which was where the infamous Demam Mawi initially came into the picture.

Well that is how art is, be it acting, singing, painting or even writing. Art is to shared, its like a subtle imagery used to convey a message, or in most that we see today, a showcase of one's ability to the world. So yes, the correlation between an artist with his audiences is truly a powerful one, and they are what they are today because we like what they do.

I leave the rest to you.......
