Bersih Rally, my take on it

Yesterday marks another important date for the history of Malaysia, though it was not something to be proud of, that does not mean that it ought be taken lightly. An illegal rally knowned as Bersih 2.0 was held in central KL with its initial purpose was to urge for a reform in the election process in Malaysia which was claimed to be unjust. To make matters worse, there was also another group who's determined to rally in KL as well in order to oppose Bersih, so now there are two different groups left to fight against each other in the city of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, 9th July 2011. To make it more interesting, each of them have agreed to wear different colored T-shirts during the rally with Bersih in yellow while the other group also called as Patriot was to be in red, which seemed similar to what has taken place in Thailand a few years ago when the pro-Thaksin group conjured a huge demonstration in 2008 that turned ugly forcing the airport to close down.

Is that what yesterday's rally is trying to achieve? Is all the trouble worth it? At times where the economy should be the one goal that ought to be made the main priority, is this really is the smart move? I for one does not think parallel as them.

If they are true to their purpose, which was to send a memorandum to the King, then why is it necessary for them to come in such huge numbers? It seemed to me that this may just be another manipulative attempts to once again break the unity among Malaysians, henceforth when we are divided, a twisted external force shall grab hold of our weakness, taking advantage of the situation. Does a demonstration like this brings more benefits or harm, that is entirely up for you to judge.

All I can say is, an incident like this brings no good at all. It merely creates chaos and instill fear in the hearts of the people rather than to achieve its goal. Is this how civilized, educated people should act in? The last time I checked, our country has already gained its freedom and is no longer under the control of any oppressing power, so I do not see the need for such a show of force, well maybe not for a matter like this. Besides, this event will only set a bad example to the eyes of our children, whereas we as adults are supposed to be the matured ones.

Is the fate of Malaysia to end like Korea where the North is separated from South? Would we like to one day see this motherland of ours share the same fate as Germany where the Walls of Berlin borders the East from the West due to the differences in ideology? South Sudan had just been recognised as a sovereign nation a couple of days ago, will that soon be an option for ours as well? Let not the differences in our ideologies destroys what our fore fathers have fought for all these years.

One of the stupidest way for a nation to fall is by the hands of its own people- Wuffy

I leave the rest to you.......
