Look deeper...
You know how people used to tell you that the world does not
revolve around you, well yes, scientifically that may be true, but in a much
wider sense that saying unfortunately does not hold true, not for most of the
times while we are alive. Whether we realize it or not, our lives are actually
interdependent upon the lives of people who live around us as well. This relationship exists between not only
human beings, but it goes beyond that, this includes the whole environment of
which we are living in at present.
What we touch and feel today may no longer be there
tomorrow, that is to show how dynamic and rapidly evolving life is. Heck, what
more of a proof do you need, the mere fact that death lurk in every corner we
pass by should be enlightening enough for us all. If one could live forever,
than that my friend is not living. Each moment in our lives will no longer be
relevant, what we do today won’t really matter the next day since we basically
have all the days we could ever need. Besides, the notion of immortality is
absurd simply because if everybody’s going to live forever, then this Earth
will no longer be able to accommodate all of us. Whenever there is a beginning,
there is bound to be an ending to it.
I have been watching the movie Cinta twice these past couple
of nights. It is an old movie, I know; produced in 2006, directed by Kabir
Bhatia. First of all, I find the title to be interesting, not just because of
the word Cinta itself, but a single word used as a title, such a noun could be
interpreted in so many different ways thinkable to man. Sorry to bore you guys,
but I am just a weird guy. I’ve always been the type who would go for the
single word essay question back during my SPM days; I could still remember my
2004 English essay question which was ‘Stars’.
In addition, the story-telling of the movie is simply
amazing! Perhaps each character has their own struggles and has an ending of
their own, but how the combination of all of them together in one single movie
sends a strong message to us all, that love could mean sacrificing the sister’s
kidney to her beloved brother; a grandchild taking care of his granddad who
suffers Alzheimer’s whom will always forget what happened to him yesterday the
moment he wakes up the next day; a guy who loves a girl so much but in the end
he learn to let go, all thanks to his daughter; a girl who came all the way from JB to find
her guy, falls in love with someone who helped her when her bag was snatched;
and lastly a very successful man learns that when you meet the right one, there
is no wrong in letting the whole world know about it, there should be no shame
in admitting your love to someone if you’re sure that your feelings are true.
Love could mean all of that and more, which is what this
movie is all about, or should I say was about. But then again, it is just a
simplification of what our lives are with just enough character and stories to
really let the message sink into you. Is this movie really is just another
movie, a work of art, or is it more than that? Can’t you see the similarity of
how our lives work? Our actions today may not necessarily affect someone else,
perhaps not today. Give it some time, and then you’ll see. How does the notion
of love actually fits into all of this, one could simply enquire. Well it is
that adhesive bond which glues an individual to another in a mysterious way of which
only the Creator could explain.
But let us discuss the question of ‘there is more to life
than just to find love’ some other time. You would be surprised to know that
love goes beyond that what Taylor Swift meant in her songs (well back when she was still together with John Mayer at least).
I leave the rest to you…….
